Envelope for Main Production Unit at Tušimice II Power Plant

Realization

2009

Description

Realization:  2009 - 2011

Place: Tušimice, Czech Republic

Description: Envelope for the main production unit constructed as a part of complex power plant reconstruction. The new shell from horizontally arranged sandwich panels was fitted to a system of columns attached to the existing supporting structure of the walls. The building is ventilated by rows of centrally operated flaps with outside louvers. Illumination belts are from cellular polycarbonate or (near emergency escape ladders) from fire resistant glass. The reconstruction was interesting as to its scope because the total area of the reconstructed walls was approximately 25,000 square meters.

Consequences of a past extraordinary event were discovered during the structure examination. Detailed analysis diagnosed the consequences of the fire that damaged a part of the structure back in 1987. The diagnostics results were incorporated into the reconstruction design.

Implementing and production documentation for the steel structure of the walls and envelope, diagnostics of the structure with regard to the consequences of the fire, author's supervision during the reconstruction.
