EXCON, a.s. realized the construction as a member of association „Společnost FIRESTA+EXCON – Cyklopropojení DOV “ in the position of the main contractor.

Footbridge in Ostrava – Vítkovice, Czech Republic
Description:
New footbridge connects region Slezská Ostrava with National cultural monument in the Down Region of Vítkovice across the railway yard and the river Ostravice. Both spans are stayed on the common fixed pylon of height 28m, of shape of letter A from the side view. The pylon is reinforced by rhombic bracing in the upper part of the structure in the front view. There are undisturbed views to blast furnace when walking on the bridge to which is bridge directed by architect. The span of length 68,3m above the railway, stayed on the two twins of ropes Ø 36 mm, has concave shape to ensure clear profile for trains, and the span of length 84,3m above the river stayed on three twins of ropes Ø 36 mm has a convex shape. The bridge of original shape consists of lateral lattice beams and bottom orthotropic deck. The ropes are terminated by the tie rod structural system enabling exact pre-stressing of the stays with strain gauge measurement.
